ABOUT the Music Project

Established in 2008, tMP brings together music and stargazing at The Custer Observatory with the goal of integrating music and the performing arts with science and discovery.
We strive to bring high quality performances to the community, with a varied repertoire and educational objectives. Each performance is paired with stargazing - after the performance ends, the audience is invited to learn about the stars from our expert staff and peer through the telescope in our historic observation dome or any of the many telescopes we have on site.
CUSTER OBSERVATORY
The Custer Institute and Observatory was established in 1927 and is a NYS 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, chartered educational organization. It is staffed by volunteers dedicated to advancing the Institute’s educational and research goals, and its service to the community. The organization’s mission statement and organizational purpose is to “provoke intellectual curiosity, explore the arts, sciences and humanities and stimulate fellowship amongst its members and to provide educational and cultural opportunities to the community.”
